Yasu laughed at the thought of asking Cael, but she dismissed it. She wasn't sure if such a question would be better with context or without, so she'd save it for a later date.
They were now at the top of the stairs that lead to the entry way. There, coming towards the stairs as well were Cael and Professor Roads. Yasu smiled, holding out her hands. "I'll take Hichigo. I wouldn't want you to crush him when you pounce your boyfriend," Yasu informed James. "Though I'd be careful, Butterfly. We don't know how Professor deals with PDA."

James turned, catching sight of Cael. A smile spread across his face. "Cael!" he called across the hall, bounding over to his boyfriend and grabbing his hand. Cael blinked owlishly at him, and James felt his smile growing even wider. He couldn't help it, Cael was cute when he wasn't awake. Less snarky, too (although it was one of the things James loved about him).
"Hi." Cael said. "I need tea." James chuckled.
"I know." He looked over his shoulder. "Morning, Professor." he told Professor Roads, figuring it would be rude not to.

Yasu had guessed that her warning would fall on deaf ears, but that was okay. She found the whole scene endearing, and she was sure if Professor Roads reprimanded them she'd find that whole scene amusing. It really was a win-win for Yasu. Actually, she was in a lot of win-win situations. She liked to think it was because she was just that good.
Hichigo seemed to give a squeak as a retort to her thoughts, but Yasu simply stroked his head with a finger.
From behind, Chayne curiously observed the scene. James was open about his affection, and not worried about getting in trouble with teachers. He adapted to situations such as Yasu's dirty remarks and rats crawling up his pants.
Interesting.
Hilda was thinking the same word. But she knew who this boy had to be without even using her sight. There were pros to having a blabbermouth for a boyfriend.
Oddly enough James was already reminding her of Calix. Except in a different way. The fact that James had the gall to simply grab her human connection to coffee as if she was not already using him was annoying. And all this lovey-dovey business had to be going on in front of her?
She opened her mouth to say something about it. Maybe subtract a couple points from Gryffindor for the look it would surely bring to her own significant other's face if nothing else. But then, speaking of the obnoxious blonde, he appeared from behind, wrapping a single arm around her thin waist and hoisting her into the air as if she were a roll of parchment. "My day has officially been made! I've seen you in person before breakfast!" Calix rejoiced, burying his head in her neck.
Hilda briefly noted that she was finally warm after having wrapped herself in five comforters last night. But she quickly brushed the thought off and released a heavy sigh. "And before coffee. Which is not allowed. Unhand me so I can retrieve my human connection to coffee from his sappy boyfriend," Hilda demanded in a sour voice.
Calix chuckled, but put her down nonetheless. He'd probably worsened her mood, as he knew she hated public signs of affection, early mornings, and not having coffee. But he was too happy to care. Normally he had to go for months without seeing her in the morning while he worked.
Hilda shook her head, pulling at her robes once in irritation as she approached the two boys. She could no longer reprimand them on public display of affection thanks to her own clingy boyfriend, but that didn't mean she couldn't have coffee. "James, release Cael so you can snog him not in front of me at a later date," she demanded in a curt voice.

James bit his lip as Calix lifted Professor Roads into the air to keep from grinning at them. Somehow, he figured she wouldn't appreciate it, even if he did think they were kind of cute. He shot a look at Cael, who was still looking at him kind of blankly.
As Professor Roads started to protest, mentioning wanting to drag him away from Cael, his hand tightened on his boyfriend's for a second. He frowned slightly, mentally shaking himself--there was no reason to get weird and clingy. Clingier than usual, anyway. As she strode forward and demanded he release him, he frowned, but Cael beat him to a reply.
"The coffee's not anywhere special. It's just..there. Just go get it." Cael said, sounding exasperated. Cael yanked their entwined hands closer to his body. "You don't need me as a bloody field guide." James felt his eyebrows raise. He hadn't heard Cael speak like that to a teacher before, and wondered what brought it on. Early-morning grumpiness? Lack of tea?

Yasu had always thought Cael had a stronger side to him. She just never thought she'd get to see it, especially not against a new professor. Though there was always the question of how said new professor would react. Yasu wasn't sure, but she was just a tad worried. Yet she saw Calix give a knowing smile, and then she second guessed herself. Eyes narrowing, she looked over at Professor Roads.
Hilda was grinning. "Game over. Looks like you won't get eaten alive after all," Hilda observed, pulling out her wand and summoning a mug that said in large letters 'EH' and had a red maple leaf on it. Another flick and black coffee had filled it. "How refreshing that Ravenclaws have backbone these days. Alas, Hogwarts seems to still rely on house elves for coffee. Good food, but my coffee is of the most bitter variety. They really can't compete. As for you, Cael, we'll discuss your behavior at a later date. Or whatever time it is that you get your schedule." And with that Hilda whirled around and headed for the tower where her classroom resided, hot and bitter coffee in hand, a happy yet still somehow sour expression on her face.
Calix stared after her, shaking his head and smiling. Then, face suddenly brightening, he turned to James and Cael. "Be honest, wouldn't she make the perfect Mrs. Lysander?" he said in his confident and vibrant voice.
Chayne walked over to stand beside Yasu, who was sliding Hichigo back into her pocket with a smile on her face. As she suspected. The new teacher was the flying professor's girlfriend.

Cael watched Professor Roads turn and walk away, unimpressed. "Finally," he muttered under his breath, thoroughly irritated. He just wanted to get to the Great Hall and have breakfast. "I need food." he said louder, turning and walking towards the Great Hall, dragging James with him. James gave a startled yelp, yelling a "Sure!" over his shoulder at Professor Lysander, trying to give him a sympathetic smile.
As he seemed to have little choice in the matter, he trailed after Cael, not bothering to make conversation. Cael wasn't much for talking until he'd had some food and tea in him. He looked behind him to see if Yasu was following, and saw the same girl from last night standing next to her. He vaguely wondered who she was, but didn't pursue the thought, happy to follow his boyfriend to breakfast. His stomach growled. Oh yeah, he was ready for breakfast. His mind resumed its earlier track of bacon and similar food items.

Calix watched the boys vanish, frowning. "They don't like my wife-to-be," he observed with a sigh. "No one ever does." He started to follow after the two, making his way down the stairs when Yasu flew past him, Chayne behind her.
"Give us time, Professor. I find her interesting if that means anything," she threw over her shoulder at him. Calix smiled and shook his head, picking up the pace so he could go eat waffles. He really was craving some. Now in the Great Hall, Yasu approached James and Cael, Chayne trailing behind her softly and at her own relaxed pace. Then she sat down, grabbing a pancake and cutting it into squares. When she had finished, she drizzled it in syrup before stabbing herself a stack. It was only then that she decided to ask her question. "You snapped at the new teacher! It was absolutely wonderful! Was it out of rage, tiredness, lack of food, or the thought of James having to let go of your hand?" Technically, there were other options, but Yasu didn't feel like listing all of them.
Now in her classroom, Hilda pressed her wand to a piece of parchment, writing her request before attaching it to her owl and sending it off to find the Headmaster. Hopefully he could alter a couple things before the students' schedules were passed out.

Cael had dragged James over to the Gryffindor table, where they were now seated. James was piling all sorts of food onto his plate: eggs, bacon, potatoes, sausage, and a waffle or two. Cael simply reached for some tea and a piece of toast.
They looked up when Yasu and the girl with the pale hair joined them. Cael, who was draining his cup of tea as quickly as possible, didn't answer Yasu's question immediately. When the cup was empty, he shrugged. "I cannot be held accountable for my actions before my first cup of tea." he said nonchalantly, filling up his cup again while munching on his toast.

Yasu smiled, settling for the ever-so-classic skim milk as her beverage of choice for the morning and chugging it in one gulp. "Don't tell Professor Roads that," she informed him. "I think she likes you. Though I don't know about you, Butterfly. You're kinda like her boyfriend, but that might actually make it worse."
Chayne had somehow produced a pumpkin muffin, though the question still remained as to how. There definitely were no pumpkin muffins on the table, but there she sat, eating away and staring openly at James.

Cael shrugged, not really caring one way or the other. If she liked him, great, if not, it wasn't his problem. James smirked a bit at being compared to Professor Lysander--he liked the guy, so he took it as a compliment. James began to dig into his food, his mouth full of sausage as he looked up--and saw that the girl next to Yasu was staring at him. He blinked.
"Ewwo?" he said with his mouth full. Cael made a face next to him.
"Don't talk with your mouth full," he reprimanded. James swallowed.
"Uh, can I help you?" he asked the girl. He didn't mind her staring at him, exactly, except for the fact that it was kind of creeping him out. Under the table, his hand twitched, automatically moving for Cael's, but he kept it where it was.

Yasu let it drop since Cael didn't seem to care. Cael was very mature in that way. Instead, she went back to stabbing her pancake, at least until James tried to say 'hello' with his mouth full. Cael reprimanded him instantly, and Yasu felt the urge to tell them they sounded just like an old couple at a restaurant. But she resisted when James swallowed his food and addressed Chayne more clearly. Oh, so he'd noticed. Yasu sometimes was a bit disappointed that Chayne was so obvious in her observation.
Chayne cocked her head to one side and didn't blink now that James was looking at her. At least not until she decided to shove the rest of the muffin into her mouth. She stared at him for a few seconds more before standing abruptly, eyes glancing up towards a window high up on the wall. She spotted her owl and silently made her way out of the Great Hall, vanishing in a short amount of time.
Yasu shoved a couple bites of pancake into her mouth and made a point of swallowing so as not to be reprimanded by Cael. "Where are Somalia and Lana? I was going to ask when their quidditch tryouts were, unless one of you knows," Yasu observed, acting as if the quiet girl next to her staring at James and then abruptly leaving was not an odd thing.

Lana and Somalia had followed Cael and Hilda all the way to the entry hall. They stood at the top of the stairs and watched as Calix walked up and Hilda left. They didn't want to make the situation awkward by walking right through it. Everyone walked into the Great Hall and the girls traipsed down the stairs. They sat down just as they were mentioned in the conversation. "What? oh, quidditch, yeah." Lana mumbled. "Tryouts are this weekend. Saturday morning." Somalia said confidently, "Ooh, food!" Somalia turned to the table, grabbed some random stuff, and attacked it with a fork. Lana sighed, "Eating like you haven't seen food for a week, you remind me of James," she looked at the girl across the table, "I don't believe I've talked to you much." "Eah, ats ur ame?" Somalia stopped eating for a second and pointed her fork at the girl. Lana elbowed her friend, indicating she was being impolite.

James watched the girl get up and leave, and blinked again. "Uh..okay?" he said, very much confused. After a moment of staring at where she'd been sitting, he shrugged it off and returned to shoving food in his mouth. Cael rolled his eyes at him.
"They are very similar." he agreed with Lana. "You'd think they never eat."
"Just because you eat like a bird." James retorted, then snorted a laugh at his own pun. "That pun actually wasn't intended." he said in between chuckles, shoulders shaking with laughter. Cael huffed, grabbing an orange and peeling it in a decidedly unamused manner.
"Just because you eat like a pig," he shot back, eyebrow raised. James grinned, grabbing a glass of water and chugging it down before starting in on his waffle. Cael shook his head, a minute smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.

Ah, Saturday. Yasu would have to check it out and scout the competition for her house team. And maybe check out the guys while she was at it.
She hadn't expected the question as to her name. She was usually so bubbly people just seemed to know it. "I'm almost offended. I'm positive I've had classes with you," Yasu said in a sarcastically offended voice. "But it's Yasu, and don't you forget it." With that, Yasu chomped onto her fork to devour the pancake pieces she had stabbed.
Huh. It was a little plain, she decided. So, she grabbed strawberries, syrup, apple jam, and jelly and began to lather it onto her pancake before mixing in some scrambled eggs. "Too bad we don't have a Piggindor. Or something. Because then we could have puns all over the place," Yasu replied, glancing over at the door to see if Chayne was returning. To her surprise, Chayne passed right by the door carrying a long package. Huh.

Lana: "I know I've seen you in our classes, we just haven't talked or been formally introduced. I assume you play quidditch, what position?" The Heads of House, along with some prefects and Head Boys/Girls, could be seen walking around the Great Hall searching for their students and passing out schedules. the houses were scattered between tables, making them very difficult to locate. A Hufflepuff Head Boy glanced at their table and kept walking. Soon it would be time to compare classes and see if any of them were fortunate enough to have classes together.
