History: Alec is the only wizard in his family. It came as quite a surprise to his parents, who reacted quite differently: Jack was proud and awed by his son's abilities, while Melissa is more fearful and wary of magic. As such, Alec often doesn't get along with his mother, but he and his father are quite close. He was closer still with his grandfather, but he died two years prior to the RP. Alec still misses him, and thinks of him often. Alec's family is quite wealthy, being the owners of a Muggle technology company, so they can afford to send him to Hogwarts. He goes back to California for the summer break, but during most holidays (such as Christmas break) he stays in the castle.
Personality: Alec can be quite withdrawn and mistrustful of people. This is because of an incident he had in grade school, where he thought some people were his friends but it turns out that they were really just befriending him because they wanted to see his house and get access to his things etc. Ever since he's been very wary of people in general, and has very few friends, none of them close. But this doesn't mean he doesn't want friends. He is very sarcastic as a rule, and he often uses it as a sort of weapon to drive people away. His sense of humor is at turns dry and witty.
He's usually very hard to startle or make uncomfortable, except when it comes to one thing: dating. He's very very awkward when it comes to the whole emotions/romance side of things, and hasn't ever really been interested in someone (and that's not likely to change). It doesn't really bother him though--he'd be happier to have friends than a girl/boyfriend.
He's fiercely loyal, and does not stand for bullying of any sort. He often gets into fights, but it's always in the process of standing up for a victim of bullying, by whomever it may be. If you are his friend he will protect you as much as he is physically capable of it, and has a bit of a 'hero' complex, though he doesn't think of it as such.
Basically: prickly and hard to approach on the outside, but not quite so on the inside.

He's short (though he will deny it), and rather on the skinny side. However, he is deceptively strong and agile. You don't want to get into a fight with him because he will purposely make you underestimate him and then use it to his advantage to kick your butt thoroughly. He's grown up amongst computers and scrap metal, so not only is he very very good with Muggle technology and how it works, but he's very good at building things as well. His hands are rather calloused and are covered in minor cuts from things he's been working on.
